As we all know, summer is for all of the Netflix binging! Sometimes we are guilty of binging during the school year but hey, no one is here to judge.
To be quite honest with you, I try my best to not binge watch. I don’t think I’m a victim of Netflix just about yet. Hahaha. But here are some of my favorite shows so far this summer / previous summers!
I love shows with sick cinematography and characters who dress up extra af to just emphasize their personality. It’s about a group of high schoolers trying to solve the mystery murder of their high school colleague, Jason. Each character has his or her own problems to deal with on top of that as well so things just intertwine and get complicated and twisted. While watching Riverdale, I thought I got what was going on…just to realize at the end of the each episode that I really did not understand what was going on. It’s one of those shows that you’d have to binge because you just can’t stop. So I suggest saving this for a weekend of unimportant stuff to do!
2. Bob’s Burgers
Holy crap. I love this show so much. I’m so sad it got removed from Netflix, but don’t you fear there are live streams of it on Youtube! It’s one of those shows that you can put on in the background while doing other stuff. It’s stupidly funny and it just makes me feel like a little kid again because it’s a cartoon. I love how even if you don’t start at the very beginning, you can still watch it and understand perfectly well who the characters are and how they interact with one another. This family is so relatable in so many ways and they’re all so hilarious. If you really pay close attention to what the characters are saying, you will start to see that there are very uplifting positive lessons we can all learn from! From not giving into peer pressure to never giving up based on one failure.
3. How I Met Your Mother
Oldie but goodie. Not going to lie, it took me way too long to really get into this show. I remember watching episode one like 5 times. Hahaha. But once I got into it, I couldn’t really stop. I’m still in the middle of watching it though so it’s not a show I binge! I like to just put this on when I feel like I need a pick me up. It’s one of those shows that you can curl up into bed with your pillow and watch until you fall asleep. It’s a good summer night show in my opinion. Nothing too hard to watch and it’s a very light-hearted show!
4. New Girl
This is one of the first few shows that got me into television. It’s super funny, witty, and the friendship celebrated on this show just makes me so happy. I love how they’re all comfortable with each other and in the end, they all know they can rely on one another. Plus, Jess gives off super summer vibes. She’s like a ray of sunshine that you really can’t ever get sick of. New Girl is one of my all time favs and I can’t wait for the next season!
5. Gossip Girl
I’ve watched this show two or three times now. This is THE show that started this unhealthy Netflix relationship. Gossip Girl is my classic. I don’t care what anyone says but this show makes me feel like I’m in some type of insider group. Hahaha. The show is so unrealistic because they’re high schoolers yet they go to bars like there’s no tomorrow and when do they ever study. Okay, yes, there were episodes where they studied and took the SAT but still. It just makes me question if there are groups of friends like this and it was just so different from what I normally perceive as high schoolers. I mean the worst that can happen is that they steal another girl’s boyfriend, but this show…woo..the drama is just too intense. I love it. It fuels my inner gossip-y wanna-be New Yorker personality.
6. Stranger Things
I binged this show so hard. So hard. I’m proud of myself for doing so. This show was recommended to me by my ex-boyfriend and at first I was actually really scared to watch it. The first episode scared the crap out of me that I had to sleep with lights on. But don’t worry, it’s actually not even scary. Each episode leaves you on the edge of your seat so you really cannot stop watching. I suggest you give this show a weekend too! You won’t be able to split it up, just save yourself the trouble and trust me…save a day or two just to watch this show. Hahahah. I am super excited for the second season!! Plus, cinematography and outfits are spot on! It’s just perfection on your screen.
What are some of your favorite shows? Are you in this unhealthy Netflix relationship too? Please leave down recommendations because I’d love to check it out!
