Morning Routine

Something about having a morning routine makes life feels a little less chaotic and a little more put together.


I usually go to bed around 10:30PM, and fall to sleep around 11PM. Some days, I sleep earlier. Some days, I sleep later. But what stays constant is my morning routine! I am an early bird. I naturally wake up early. (Crazy, I know.)  I like to take my time in the morning. Read the news. Catch the earlier bus to school and have a fresh start. Here’s how out it all goes down.

530AM/6AM – Wake up

I usually wake up around 5:30AM naturally. There are days where I do let my alarm go off multiple times before I even get out of bed, but I normally wake up before my alarms. For the majority of the time, my body is up and alert by 5:30AM.

6AM – Brush, Wash Face, Drink Water, Toilet


My favorite thing to do after brushing my teeth is to wash my face in the morning using Glossier’s milky jelly cleanser. The milky jelly cleanser glides across the face and gives you such a light, sweet rose scent. Afterwards, I will put on a balm and moisturize my face using Glossier! I also make sure to drink some water because I normally feel super dehydrated after waking up.

615AM – Get changed

I’ve been trying to minimize my wardrobe and live a more minimalistic lifestyle since I’ve really been into decluttering and owning/buying less. I was inspired by the documentary and podcast, Minimalism. I will turn on either a podcast or youtube as I get changed. Doesn’t take too long since I am trying my best to downsize my closet!

630AM – Makeup


Eh, some days I try. Some days, I don’t. Makeup routine, super easy. I put on the SunBum face sunblock. I use It Cosmetic’s CC Cream in Medium as a light foundation because school makes my face go through some shit. Blush, I use a Glossier’s Cloud Paint in Dusk. It’s such a beautiful color for the eyes and cheeks. I’ll also do my eyebrows using ABH’s brow duo. Some Better Than Sex mascara. If I’m feeling good, I’ll put on some Milk’s Holographic Mars highlight and Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer! Again, this step is only a once or twice a week treat!

7AM – Breakfast

I’ll normally toast a bagel, spread some cream cheese on. Make eggs or cereal. Some days I’ll have overnight oats ready in a small jar or I’ll prepare a yogurt parfait. It all depends on how I’m feeling, what’s available, and when I need to leave the apartment. Some days I’ll just grab a granola bar!

730AM – Leave

If I have nothing else to do, I will normally just leave the apartment by 730AM-8AM. I’ll catch the next bus and be on my merry way to school. On the bus, I will normally spend that time to listen to some of my favorite podcasts or read the news. I’ll list some of my favorites down below!

This is for the serious stuff. (The opposite of The Newsette) The stuff that makes you go, “What is humanity? What did Trump say now?” I always want to stay as up to date as possible with what’s happening around the world. Sometimes we are so wrapped up in our own personal lives and problems that we forget that there is so much more out there! I like to stay informed and understand what others are conversing about.

Lately, these have been my go-to podcasts. I really love Estee Lalonde’s podcast where she gets to the Heart of It. She digs deep into simple subjects and makes everything feel more heartfelt and relatable. I love listening to her talk as I commute to school since each episode is around only 30 minutes. The Ground Up Show and The Minimalists are definitely longer (1hr) but they are so inspiring. I’ve really been into decluttering my life and listening to these podcasts have definitely inspired me to rethink the way I consume. Of course, these are just a few of the podcasts that I listen to!
